Belfred Alastaire Roberts was born April 22, 1961 to the late Bernice Brown Williams and Lewis Roberts. He was the third of three children born of this marriage. On Thursday afternoon, December 24, 2020, Belfred quietly and peacefully transitioned to his eternal resting place.
He received his early education in the Dougherty County School System and graduated from Dougherty High in 1979. Over the next several years, Belfred worked as security personnel at several entertainment establishments around the greater Albany, GA area and was employed with M&M Mars, Inc. He was most proud of his work as a correctional officer at Baldwin State Prison in Milledgeville, GA, where he retired from in 2008 due to health-related issues.
Belfred then moved back to his hometown of Albany, GA, where he remained until he suffered a stroke in July 2014. In August 2014, he traveled to Atlanta to receive additional medical care and was a resident at Westbury Health and Rehabilitation, in Conyers, GA, where he forged friendships with staff members and residents alike.
Belfred’s kind and giving spirit touched the lives of many. He will be remembered most for his love of music, candy, perfectly coiffed hair and bringing joy to others through his gift of storytelling and one-of-a-kind jokes. He was also a creative cook who loved to invent unique recipes and sauces.
