Jacquelyn Marie Pertilla Smith was born to the late Isaiah Pertilla and the late Juanita Mott Pertilla on October 9, 1940. Jacquelyn was a native of Tifton, retired educator, faithful member of Allen Temple AME Church, and an active community volunteer. She was the wife of fifty (50) years of John W. Smith (also retired educator and current Board of Education Vice Chairman) and the mother of Kimberly and Courtney.
Wherever she was called to serve, she was faithful and used her gifts for God's glory. As God blessed Jacquelyn Marie Pertilla Smith, she was a blessing to others. "Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise: 'Many women have done wonderful things, but you've outclassed them all!'" Proverbs 31:28,29 MSG
To continue in her life's work and legacy - faith, strength, generosity - she is survived by her husband John W. Smith, daughters Kimberly Nichelle Smith of Jonesboro and Courtney Smith Lamar (Rev. William H. Lamar IV) of Hyattsville, MD, and host of relatives and friends.
