Mother Loretta Wheeler Obituary

The staff and management of   J.L. Litman Memorial Funeral Service is saddened to announce the earthly transition of Mother Loretta Wheeler. 

Loretta James- Wheeler was born in Albany, Ga. on August 22, 1948. She was the fifth child born to Willie James Jr. and Ruthie M. James.She received her diploma from Monroe High School in 1965. She later attended Albany State University to study Early Childhood Development.

Anytime you needed a good laugh or encouragement, prayer, or some great advice, she was always there.

Loretta was an active member of Rema Word Baptist Church, formerly known as Williams Springs of The Williamsburg Community, under the ministry of Pastor Powell.

Loretta worked in Retail in St. Louis, MO., where she lived for a couple of years to pursue her career, and eventually moved back home to Albany, GA., She  later became a stay at home mother.

In her leisure, she enjoyed reading her Bible, crossword puzzles, making everybody laugh with her funny jokes. She was a phenomenal singer.

Loretta was preceded in death by her father, Willie James Jr. and brother Ulysses.

She leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate her life,  her husband, John D. Wheeler Sr., her four sons, Venze Riley, Dexter Seigler, John Wheeler & Corey Wheeler, her grandchildren, Nagea Riley-Das,(Moet Das), Harmony Riley, Sterris Veal, Her Mother, Ruthie Mae James; and eight siblings, Edna I. Moore,  Thelma L. Richardson,Willie James Jr.III, Alva L. James(Penola Walton-James), Lillie Ruth Hatch, Bobby D. James, Ralph A. James(Betty James),Curtis E. James, and a host of nieces & nephews.
