Mrs. Dorothy Alford Obituary

The staff and management of   J.L. Litman Memorial Funeral Service is saddened to announce the earthly transition of Mrs. Dorothy Alford.

On January 24, 1949, the Lord blessed Mr. Tommie Lee Parks and Ms. Lillie Mae Guider-Parks with a beautiful daughter, Dorothy Elizabeth Parks.

Dot, as she was affectionately known, was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She was the only girl surrounded by four caring and protective brothers.  The family moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1956, where she enjoyed meeting new friends, who later became family.  She graduated from Dillard High School, where she enjoyed being a cheerleader, dancing, and playing sports. She especially loved playing basketball.  In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and traveling.

Dot gave her life to Christ at an early age. A woman of strong faith, Dot loved God and served faithfully as a Deaconess at North Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Her life reflected her commitment to service, kindness, and spiritual devotion.

Dot was united in holy matrimony with Steve Alford in 1971 and they became a beautiful, blended family with Anthony La’Keith (Keith), Dot’s first son.  In this union, they were blessed with another son, Steven (Fat).  She loved her children and they were her pride and joy.

Finally, on Sunday, December 21, 2025, Dot was called from labor to reward.  She lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to family. She now joins her parents, her talented and creative son Anthony La’Keith Randall, and her amazing siblings: Earlie James Parks, Charles Parks, and Douglas (Sunny) Parks.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her faithful and loving husband Steve Alford, her admirable brother Tommie Parks (Ella). Her devoted and loving son Steven Alford, his wife and dedicated daughter-in-love Catina Alford, and daughter-in-love LaDonna Randall. Sisters-in Love: Pamela (Nico) Savage and Lanett (Roger) Hall. Brothers-in-love: Otis, Hilton Toby, and Edward.  She was a proud and loving grandmother to Roshonda Randall, D’Marquian Randall, Devin (Kelsey) Randall, Lakedra Randall, and Jadah Alford.  She relished in her Great-grandchildren: Devin Jr, Kariya, Kaniyah, Layla, Kennedi, Kalani, and Kholee, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Please keep the family of  Mrs. Dorothy Alford   in your prayers as we reflect the Gracious Memories. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.litmanfuneralservice.com
