Mrs. Jerleen “Twin” (Jones) Armstrong transition peacefully in Albany, GA on August 26, 2024 at the age of 84.

Jerleen  is survived by one daughter: Mary Pearl Riley Brown (Melvin);  Five Grandchildren: Kwezeta Brown, Quinisha Meeks, Destiny Smith Oliver (Joshua), Jamale Meeks and Landon Collier; Four great grandchildren: SaDerrick (Kendria) Butler, Kwezeta Butler, Alexis (Austin) Wilson, Jonathan Jaquay McRoy; Three great great grandchildren: Amena Butler, Lelani Wilson, Skylar Butler, and Joshua Oliver, Jr.; Three sisters: Wynella Knight, Brenda Cox, Lora Rich; a Host of Nieces: Bulinda Ann Moore, Chekesha Thornton, Ayisha Thornton, Shericka Cox, Wynter Cox, Chrishon Walker, Raven Moet, RaShay Cox, Payton Bush and more; Nephews: Leon Cox, Gregory (Sing) Cox, Jamarion Davis, Amir Bush, Travis Bush, Gregory Cox, Jr, Dominique Cox and many more. and One Loving Brother In Law: JD Armstrong.

Jerleen is preceded in death by her loving spouse Franklin Armstrong; Two Sisters: Wyleen Wingfield and Ira Lee Smith; One Grandchild: Keith Smith and One Niece: Raven Cox.

Jerleen was born on February 24, 1940 in Leary, GA to Eva Mae Jones (Cox) and Ira Lee Jones.  Jerleen was born a twin birth with Wyleen so they were always known as “The Twins”. 

"Jerleen, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully at the age of 84. Her life was a testament to unwavering family love, unwavering faith, and a strong, independent spirit.

Born in Leary, GA , Jerleen was a woman of many talents and businesses. Her journey began with managing the bustling Cabin In The Pines Casino in Albany, Georgia. Her dedication and hard work led her to embark on an entrepreneurial path. She established and successfully ran Mathis Personal Care Home for an impressive 21 years, dedicating her life to caring for others. Her commitment to her clients was a reflection of her kind and compassionate nature.

Jerleen also found joy in the hospitality sector, owning the Robinson Barbecue Restaurant for several years, where she shared her love of delicious food and community with many. She instilled her values of hard work and dedication into her family and passed down a legacy of entrepreneurship.

Her most cherished roles were that of a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the rock of her family, fostering a deep faith in God and the importance of unity and support. Her warm and welcoming home was always filled with the laughter of her cherished grandchildren and the warmth of her unwavering love.

Jerleen's strength and resilience inspired those around her. Her unwavering devotion to her family and her unwavering belief in God's love served as a Deaconess and a Usher. She left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone she touched.

She will be forever missed and remembered by Mary Pearl and her grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 7,2024 at 12 Noon in the Arcadia Missionary Baptist Church, 1214 N Jackson St, Albany, GA 3170.

Burial will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery, 120 Old Pretoria Rd, Albany, GA 31721.
