Ms. Sylvia Ann Wilcox

Today, we gather with hearts both heavy and grateful as we celebrate the precious life and enduring legacy of Ms. Sylvia Ann Wilcox, who was born on March 12, 1961, to the late Mary Lee Wilcox and Charlie Rogers, Jr., and who peacefully departed this life on May 14, 2026.

From an early age, Sylvia was a cherished gift to all who knew and loved her. She accepted Christ and faithfully walked in grace and devotion throughout her life. She was a woman of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and deep compassion, exemplifying dignity, kindness, and love in every season of her life.

Sylvia was educated in the Irwin County School System and furthered her studies at East Central Technical College. She possessed a natural eye for beauty, with a passion for interior design and fashion that reflected her creativity and individuality.

Throughout her professional journey, Sylvia served in many roles before wholeheartedly dedicating herself to the field of behavioral health. She retired from The Jessamine Place, where she made a meaningful impact on the lives of those she served. Even in retirement, Sylvia remained active in the pursuits she loved, embracing thrifting and repurposed fashion at Brother Charlie’s. Whether through her professional work, cherished friendships, or simple acts of generosity, she touched countless lives and left an imprint of grace on every heart she encountered.

Sylvia will always be remembered for her warm smile, gentle wisdom, unwavering faith, and the deep love she shared with her family and friends. She possessed a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, valued, and cared for, leaving a lasting impression wherever she went.

She found joy in life’s simple moments and had a special gift for bringing light, laughter, and comfort to those around her.

She was a devoted and loving mother who leaves to cherish her memory: her four children, Sherice Hutchinson (Lindon), Marcus Wilcox, India Wilcox, and Leondria Ellison-Gray (Glenn); her four grandchildren, Kaliyah Hill (Jamari), Bryelle Collins, Malaiya Collins, and Kevis Collins, Jr.; her beloved goddaughter, Jasmaine Deberry; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who lovingly knew her as “Auntie” or “Nuke.”

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; her aunts and uncles; and her beloved uncle, Earl Wilcox, who held a very special place in her heart.

Though we grieve the loss of her earthly presence, we rejoice in the blessing of a life beautifully lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know and love her.
