Otis Buxton

November 14, 1937 ~ January 6, 2013 (age 75) 75 Years Old

A time to be incepted ... Otis Buxton affectionately known to family and friends as "Otis", except for his beloved grandson he was known as "Papa". He was born to the proud parents of Will and Susie Buxton in Cotton, Mitchell County, Georgia on November 14, 1937. He had two children to preceded him in death Leatha A. Brown and James Chandler. Otis was the seventh child of eight siblings all of whom preceded him in death.

A time to aspire ... Otis was raised in Cotton, Georgia and educated in the public schools of Mitchell County, Georgia. He later relocated to Alma, Georgia in the Bennett Still community. Professing his faith and accepting Christ as his Lord and Master he united with the membership at St. Luke Baptist Church. Otis joined under the pastorage of Reverend Fred Holmes.

A time to expand ... Upon his arrival in the Bennett Still community at the early age of 18 Otis was employed with Altman's Right-A-Way. He remained employed with the company for 49 years. Upon retirement he was able to spend more time doing the things he loved so much. He had a special love for other people assisting them however he could. His two favorite things to do was to watch his grandson Kajohn,shoot squirrels in the back yard, and to maintained his lawn. All in all Otis was a devoted family man.

A time to love ... Mr. Buxton was united with Shirley O'Neal for over 40 years. Together they raised six children.

Cherishing Otis' memories, his loving wife, Shirley; five children, Jenise O'Neal (Richard), Alexander Chandler (Bonita), Wynoka Casteel (Gary), Eddie O'Neal (Henretta), Steve Chandler ( Janice); daughter-in-law, Donna Chandler; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
