Prentiss Jackson

Prentiss Jackson, 70 of Cordele Ga sadly departed this earth June 22, 2023, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Jackson was born December 23, 1952, in Chicago, Il. He was the only son of Ernest and Janet Jackson.

Mr. Jackson attended elementary and high school in the Chicago public school system. It was at Carter Elementary that he was given the nickname "Rabbit" after being chased by students trying to take his record player, which he had taken to school for show and tell. He ran so fast that they never could catch him. That name stuck with him most of his life.

As teenager Mr. Jackson became interested in painting abstracts and Black art. This was a hobby that he continued into adulthood. He loved sharing his artwork, especially giving special pieces to family members as gifts.

Mr. Jackson was preceded by his father, Ernest Jackson, and mother Janet Robinson Jackson.

Prentiss is survived by two daughters, Pamela Timmons and Crystal Crump.

Prentiss was the second eldest of four children. He left to mourn his three sisters Chloe Young, Patricia Swain (Thomas), and Sharon Jackson (Omar) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, one of whom he was very close to, Charles Coates (Angela).

He will be eternally remembered and greatly missed by our family.

The Rabbit has run his last race!

A private family celebration of life memorial will take place on July 15, 2023, at the home of his sister and brother in law,  in 710 E. 19th Ave Cordele ,GA  31015
