Reverend Howard K. James, 85, was born on November 30, 1937, to the late Richard and Rossie James in Baconton, GA.
He attended Monroe high school. He left school in the 12 th grade to join the United States Navy, where he served for 3 years. After the Navy, he returned home to Georgia where he was employed as a veterinarian assistant and a long-term employee of the Firestone Company.
Reverend James met and married the love of his life, Rosie L. James in 1975. He loved his sugarfoot and would often say “I will choke a brick over my wife”. Through their union, a family of 6 children were joined: Howard Jr, Reva Renee, Delphine, Tunga, Marvin and Herman. Howard and Rosie had nearly 48 glorious years of love together until his bride was called home in June. He missed her daily. After his employment at Firestone ended, Rev Howard James continued to be a hard worker and provided for his family through employment as a school crossing guard, maintenance worker and his true calling- serving and preaching the word of God. Our Daddy was a preaching man!!
During his times as a Minister, Reverend James pastored several churches: William Springs, Mt. Mary, St. Mary, and New Provisor Baptist Church where he served as Pastor for 44
years until he retired May 22, 2021.
Howard James was preceded in death by his parents and his only lady Rosie James. He leaves to cherish his memory - their children; Howard (Christine) James, of Albany, GA; Reva Renee (Ron) Hammond, of Ruskin, Fl; Delphine (Jerone) Jackson, of St. Louis, MO; Tunga (Darryl) DeBerry of Rincon, GA; Marvin (Daffenee) James, of Albany, GA; and Herman (Sha) James of Columbus, GA. Tywon Heath and many others; multitude of siblings (who we all know there are too many to name) and a great mass of family and friends.
Howard James adored and loved his 11 grandkids, 8 great-grand kids and special nieces/foxes: Wanda McNeal, Carol Harrell and Chanelle McQueen.
Rev. Howard James was loved and cherished by all who met him. He was well known and jokingly referred to by his kids as “The Un-Official Mayor of Albany “ He never met a stranger and was a friend to all.
You will be missed Daddy!! If we don’t love you, aint a cow in Texas!!!
